How do I book daycare for my dog?
Booking doggy day care sessions with Top Dog is simple and straightforward. Once the necessary paperwork is completed, vaccinations have been checked, and your pup has had a successful taster session, weâll get you set up with our free booking app. This handy mobile app lets you conveniently schedule dog daycare sessions, make secure payments, and manage bookings up to 90 days in advance. Youâll receive all the details about this after your dogâs taster session.
Do I need to book fixed sessions every week?
Not at all! We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so you can book sessions as often or as little as you like, with no regular commitment to worry about. All bookings are made through our free mobile app, which lets you secure sessions up to 90 days in advance. Although, for the best experience, we recommend not leaving too long between sessions, as regular attendance helps your dog build routine, stay familiar with the environment, and strengthen their social bonds with other dogs.
Do you pick up or drop off dogs at home?
Currently, we donât offer transport services for pick-ups or drop-offs. However, some of our customers use pet taxi services offered by local dog walkers to help get their dogs to and from doggy day care sessions when needed.
Can you feed my dog during a full day session?
We can feed puppies up to the age of 6 months during their session at doggy daycare. This is the typical age when puppies transition to two meals per day, before and after day care. We can also facilitate a midday meal if there are medical needs. All other dogs are given healthy treats at lunchtime, such as carrots, apples, and bananas.
Can you take puppies?
Yes, we welcome puppies as young as 12 weeks old, as long as it has been at least 2 weeks since their second vaccinations (including kennel cough). Puppies get the same careful assessments as adult dogs to make sure theyâre comfortable and ready to join in the fun.
Are there any breeds that Top Dog canât take?
While we love all dogs, there are a few restrictions in place to ensure the safety and harmony for everyone at Top Dog Doggy Day Care.
As a licenced facility, we cannot accept any banned or dangerous dog breeds. We also donât take uncastrated male bull breeds over the age of 1 (such as French Bulldogs and Staffordshire Bull Terriers), as our experience shows they donât do well at daycare.Â
Please get in touch if you have any specific questions about your pooch.
Questions about your pup
Does my male dog need to be neutered?
No, male dogs donât need to be neutered to join us. However, we do monitor all dogsâ behaviour closely and cannot accept any aggression, dominance, or humping. This ensures a happy, balanced group dynamic for everyone.
Does my female dog need to be spayed?
No, your female dog doesnât need to be spayed to attend Top Dog Doggy Day Care. However, we canât accept females during their season. When your female dog is in season, we kindly ask that they stay home for 4 weeks before returning to doggy daycare.
My dog is reactive on a lead, is this a problem?
Not necessarily. We normally find that dogs behave very differently at doggy daycare than with a parent on the other end of the lead. In fact, many lead-reactive dogs do very well at Top Dog once theyâre off-lead in a safe, social, and controlled environment. Thatâs why we offer a free taster session before they are accepted to assess their behaviour around staff and other dogs.
I have a high-energy dog, can you still take them?
Absolutely! We welcome dogs of all energy levels and have a variety of activities to suit each individual. Top Dog Doggy Day Care has a mix of dogs with different personalities every day, so thereâs always a pack or playmate for your high-energy pooch to zoom around with!
My dog is nervous, will they be OK?
We understand that some dogs need a little extra time to feel comfortable. During the taster session, we assess each dogâs needs and may start nervous dogs in a quieter area with a smaller group before introducing them to the main group. Sometimes, it can take a few sessions for them to get used to doggy daycare if they haven’t mixed with a lot of dogs before, but our experienced team will discuss this with you and ensure your dog feels safe and supported.
How will I know if daycare is right for my dog?
We invite all humans to visit us and see our facilities first-hand before arranging a free taster session for their dog. During your visit, youâll learn more about what we do and how we care for your four-legged companions.
When it comes to your dog’s taster session, weâll send you photos and updates to give you peace of mind and let you know how theyâre settling in. After the session, weâll share detailed feedback with you, discussing how they got on, their behaviour, and, hopefully, confirming that theyâre happy and a good fit for doggy day care.
If we have any concerns about your dog’s behaviour or happiness, we’ll openly discuss them with you and create a plan together. Some dogs might simply need a few more sessions to settle in and adjust. While most dogs thrive at daycare, our top priority is ensuring every pup in our care is safe and happy. In rare cases where itâs not a good fit, weâll provide honest feedback and work with you to find the best solution for your dog.
If you have any other questions or would like to book a taster session, please donât hesitate to get in touch with our team. We canât wait to welcome you and your best friend to the Top Dog family!
